Mr. Jose F. Ramos was Mr. Philippines 1953. Before that, he was Mr. Luzon in 1951-52. Og Ramos, Mr. Philippines 1951, was his first cousin.

Jose Ramos is still alive, in good shape and still lifting weights. He was one of the pioneers in the gym and spa industry. He started the Symmetry Health Club an Aquatic Sports Fitness in 1962 at Hotel Mabuhay somewhere in Ermita.

He was a graduate of the Bernarr MacFadden School of Physical Culture. He introduced "Environmental Fitness" and the first co-ed gym. The hotel closed in 1975 forcing the gym to transfer at Mr. Ramos' residence in Quezon City. Today, Mr. Ramos is residing in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.
