JohnMorris Limpangan - December 2005

If you want to know who's who in Pinoy Bodybuilding, you've come to the right place. JohnMorris Limpangan is the newest rising star in Philippine Bodybuilding.

Morris, as most people call him by, has recently won the Mr. Philippines NABBA 2005 in Cebu City held last September 17, 2005. He won the Novice class and Medium category. For someone new in the sport, this is big achievement.

Morris has been an athlete ever since high school. He played track and field varsity at Philippine Cultural High School focusing in shotput. He dreamed of someday achieving a muscular physique. In 1997, at 19 yrs. of age, he enrolled in a gym and started playing with the weights. He worked his way up from a skinny 135 lbs. to his current muscular 165 lbs. contest weight with 3% body fat. Off season, Morris can eat a hearty meal gaining up to 205 lbs. Then he prepares 5 months before the contest to get that slick contest form.

Morris is symmetrical, well proportioned, thick and muscular, which is why he stands out in a crowd. His dream of getting this physique has been realized. Now his goal is to get an international title. He is eyeing the Mr. Universe NABBA in Germany on December 3, 2005.

Ask him about his training and diet. He says, " It's a trial and error system. You read books and magazines. Talk to knowledgeable people. But when you actually apply it to yourself, it may or may not work. You listen to your body and stick to the plan that works for you. It's a case by case basis. Everyone has a different body system."

This is what's working for him currently:

Pre-Contest diet: 10 days before contest, start with 3 days carbo depletion (high protein diet of canned tuna), then 2 days carbo loading of sweet potatoes and plain potatoes. Then repeat with 3 days of carbo depletion and then 2 days of carbo loading. Voila! The great physique of Morris!

Weight Training: Split training of body parts. Workout 5 - 6 times a week with lots of cardio vascular activities and abdominal workout.

Food Supplements work well. Whey Protein helps in recovery especially during heavy weight training days. Take this 3 times a day. L-carnithine, amino acids and potassium tablets are a part of his intake.

On the local scene, he looks up to Mike Borenaga, Jerick Ternida and Anthony Manjares as great athletes of our time. Anthony has been his training partner for a couple of years now which is another motivation for him to improve. He believes his best body parts are his shoulders and his weakest body part is his back.

"Bodybuilding teaches discipline and time-management. It boosts your self-esteem and morale", Morris tells us.

On the other side of the fence, he has been attracting fans of Pinoymuscle TV Show. When he went to the market the other day, a couple of women recognized him and asked him if he was the athlete doing challenges every Saturday at 12noon on Channel 5. Flattered and humbled, he told them to keep watching the show and thanking them for their support. What a guy!

Again, Congratulations Morris for a job well done both on and off screen.
