16-year old John Paul Aranton is the Philippines' Teen Idol in Fitness and Bodybuilding. At an age where most teenagers are looking for acceptance among their peers, building strata for social conformity in school and community, John Paul has found his niche.
John Paul started fitness and training with weights and martial arts (taekwando, kung fu and kickboxing) at a very young age - 10 years old. At 14, he was powerlifting. His life revolved around his relatives - his uncles and cousins. He had left his Mom and Dad back in Oriental Mindoro so he can train with his cousins at their home gym in Metro Manila.
In October, 2005 he won the Overall junior championship at the Junior Bodybuilding Open Inivitational in Manila at the age of 15. He also won the Best Poser award in that event. Recently, he joined the Bodywars competition and the Mr. Philippines PFBB but did not make the top 3. He wanted to see, as a natural drug-free bodybuilder, how he compared to the veterans and matured physiques.
John Paul's discipline in his training shows in his overall physique. He trains 4 times a week in the gym. His favorite workout routine is his legs which obviously stands out when you see him in person. But that doesn't mean his other body parts are neglected. Although he knows he needs to work more on his biceps and triceps.

John Paul's mission in life is to promote bodybuilding and fitness among the youth, specifically the teenagers. He would like to be the role-model of teenagers wanting to live a healthy and active lifestyle and drug-free. John Paul is a natural bodybuilder in every sense of the word. He did not developed his physique using drug-enhancers or steroids. He knows the consequences these might lead to. He realizes that being young is not forever, even if he is the epitome of a healthy youth. He supplements himself with good and proper nutritional foods such as vegetables, fruits, protein, carbohydrates and herbal based supplements.
He advises his friends and cousins about proper nutrition and weight training. He believes that sleeping is very important when you train hard because this is when the muscles start recovering and developing. Lack of sleep and rest deprives the body of its potential to grow. Sleep is not just for muscles but also for developing a healthy mind.
In promoting fitness and bodybuilding, John Paul together with his teenage-cousins, recently formed a dance group doing hip-hop, modern and jazz dance combined with artistic posing, called the "ASTEEGS". They will be performing at the Mr. & Ms. Universe - NABBA Philippines July 15, 2006 at the AFP Theatre, Quezon City. They are under the tutelage of Mr. Gus Aldeguer, a producer, director and TV personality in show business. Incidentally, Mr. Gus Aldeguer has an on-going nightly talk show 11pm - 12midnight on RJ Cable channel. The group "ASTEEGS" have guested in his show.
John Paul will also be doing an educational TV program showcasing instructional training concepts for the young viewers.
There is no question John Paul is on his way to stardom. Sky's the limit for a young athlete like him. He has everything going for him - total physique, intelligence, charisma and confidence on stage and personality.
